The Choral Chameleon Institute for Composers and Conductors of Choral Music welcomes ambitious musicians 18 years of age or older to apply for our internationally renowned 8-day program. In some cases, students under the age of 18 can be accepted with parental or guardian permission. No more than 15 students are accepted per Institute session: 12 composers and 3 conductors maximum. Our students come from a very wide range of musical backgrounds and experiences. Admission is granted to students regardless of genre or style preference and regardless of the personal level of experience writing for or conducting choral groups. We are interested in fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and musical growth in the company of professionals who perform, record, commission, and teach choral music year-round throughout the New York metro area and the Northeast United States. Since a great amount of specialized attention is given to each student during the Institute, this application helps ascertain the readiness and willingness of prospective students to respond positively and productively to this intensive learning experience.
